Spring Equinox Wellness

Spring is upon us!

The 2018 spring equinox March 22 is fast approaching. We endured a cold snowy filled winter here in the lower mainland, which forced us to bundle up indoors, or brave the snow. Many of us enjoyed some beautiful snowy ski and snowshoeing days!

Sometimes during the busy-ness of our days, we ignore the changing of the seasons around us. If the past few weeks of warm sunny days and cooler rainy days, are a representation of what the coming spring has to offer,  we should stay mindful over the next few spring months.

With the arrival of spring, there are a few things to remember :

  • Dress in layers - it is difficult to dress in the spring as one minute it is hot, and the next it is quite cool. Perhaps pack an extra scarf and sweater, to protect yourself from the element during this time of change

  • Keep sleep times - with the daylight days becoming longer, we tend to want to stay up later. It is still important to be mindful of our sleep times, and still allow ourselves appropriate times to wind down from our day.

  • Conserve energy - the energy of the spring, like the flowers, is to wake up from hibernation and begin to flourish. As much as we want to be in full flourish immediately, take your time, and ease into your summer sports or activities - there is plenty of time to enjoy full flourish in the summer

  • Prepare your garden - now is the time to prepare your garden, start some seedling. Even if you are not a gardener, perhaps, buy yourself a new plant for the spring, or, go for a walk in the woods. Now is a beautiful time of re-connecting to nature

Spring is a time of flourishing and awakening. It takes nature a few months to come into full flourish, so remember to take your time in awakening into your full flourish this spring!
